Campaign Statement

Well, just like that, we’ve moved on from Westlake… After 12 years in business at Pelington, we had a 2-month notice to vacate our roasting space. It was a sudden emotional flurry of packing Conduit into a container and purging the rest. Emerging from the pandemic, we had high aspirations for this spring and plans for our brand and community, only to find out abruptly that we must move on.

It appears there are many changes coming to our former home at 2501 Westlake, and clearly the “Pelington Village” is not what it used to be. The messages from the owners were ignorant of the several businesses and artists involved with our space; we had been providing our equipment for several local roasting companies and cafes, and also artists’ studio and event space.

Although blindsided with the short notice, we have acquired a beautiful new location in the SODO neighborhood and are excited to share the journey of building out our new home and education lab.

But we really need your help and participation going forward. We will be launching an INDIEGOGO campaign June 1st …until then, as we organize our campaign, we have set up a “pre-launch” link to collect advance donations. Donations during this “pre-launch” period will help build an audience for our campaign launch, as well as fund the cost of additional equipment required for our permits to operate in a brand new space.

Also a huge shout-out to @aviator.coffee in Bainbridge Island who are currently providing their roasting equipment for our production needs in the interim before we are able to reopen.

There are so many memories from Westlake and the decade-plus effort of turning a muddy carport into a functional roasting business. We are grateful for all of them. We wouldn’t be here without you, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Cheers!

Conduit Team
